The Supreme Court on April 22 agreed with CRC's position
and upheld a building moratoria put in place to protect
Lake Tahoe from pollution, rejecting a takings challenge
brought by more than 400 Tahoe property owners. The
ruling is a major victory that preserves the ability
of local governments to protect fragile resources from
environmental harm.
CRC filed a brief in the Tahoe case on behalf
of the nation's governors, mayors and other state and
local officials. The case is Tahoe-Sierra Preservation
Council v. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
